
Cynthia Whalen graduated from Washburn University in Topeka with a bachelor of fine arts degree in 1998. She received the Mulvane Woman’s Board Scholarship for the 1996-1997 and 1997-1998 school years.
She received the Pollack Purchase Award in 1998 and one of her paintings resides in the permanent collection of the Mulvane Museum of Art.
Cynthia is a member of the Portrait Society of America. One of her paintings was recognized at the beginning ceremonies at the organizations’ first conference in 1999 at Washington, D.C.
Cynthia has studied art in Italy and has attended seminars under America’s most renowned portrait artists, such as Everett Raymond Kinstler, Willima Draper and Burton Silverman.
